About the AU-EU High-Level Event on AI in Science 

Artificial intelligence is reshaping scientific discovery across Africa and Europe. On 26 October 2026, the African Union Commission and the European Commission convene policymakers, research-infrastructure leaders, funders, early-career and senior researchers, and innovation-ecosystem actors for a one-day expert dialogue on how to build an equitable, Africa-Europe AI in Science partnership.

The programme runs from 09:30 to 16:30 (CET) and combines a high-level opening plenary, four parallel thematic breakouts, and a cross-cutting closing plenary:

• Data & Infrastructure – federated data ecosystems, FAIR and CARE principles, HPC access
• Scientific Networks – CoRE/ARUA-Guild, EDCTP3, FNSSA, CCSE; scaling collaboration models
• Innovation Ecosystems – AI startups, technology transfer, blended finance, public-private partnerships
• Skills & Talent – ARISE, interdisciplinary training, talent circulation, AI literacy for science

Each breakout produces concrete recommendations – key priorities, proposed actions, implementation mechanisms – for the AU-EU High-Level Policy Dialogue on Science, Technology and Innovation.
